New York City is the perfect place to spend your New Year's Eve, but New Yorkers know the best places are to celebrate are far away from Times Square. If you plan to stick around the city, here are all the venues, restaurants and unique spots to ring in 2019.
 

Sister Jane
Why fight the crowds when you can celebrate close to home? This year, Sister Jane (located on 13th Street) is offering crave-worthy comfort foods, ranging from calamari to their signature Tavern Wings and a selection of burgers and mains. StuyTown Residents will receive an exclusive 10% discount when they order from the standard menu.


If you’re looking for a whole night of fun, the restaurant also has party packages that include 4 hours open bar (9pm1am), starting at $75 per person. It includes house liquor, beer, and wine, passed appetizers, champagne toast at midnight and complimentary party favors.

 

Family-Friendly New Year’s Eve Ball Drop
The Children’s Museum of Manhattan will be hosting a whole day of events for children and families on Dec. 31. Arts and crafts stations will allow kids to create personalized time capsules or festive glasses, hats
and noisemakers to ring in the New Year. The Year’s Eve Ball Drop and Parade will take place at 12pm, 2pm, and 4pm.

 

The Comedy Cellar
Come celebrate the New Year with a few laughs at New York's Comedy Cellar. Between consistently top-notch lineups and celebrity pop-ins, the comedy club is the place to be. There will be special appearances from comedians from The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Tonight Show, The Chappelle Show and more, so get ready for a night of laughter and fun. Tickets are required.

 

New York Road Runners Midnight Run
Get the new year off to a running start – literally – with the NYRR Midnight Run in Central Park. With a countdown to midnight beginning at 11:59 p.m., the four-mile run will begin on the stroke of midnight, as a spectacular fireworks display lights up the night. The fun starts at
10pm with music and dancing.

 

New Year's Eve Social for Seniors
All StuyTown and Peter Cooper Village resident seniors are invited to join in the festivities and celebrate the end of one year and the start of another! The evening features: music and sing-a-long provided by DeeJay Kay! "Bingo through the Decades" with Bingo Bob! Complimentary for residents Only. Reservations Required. Sign up at the Community Center. When: Sunday, December 31 from 7 - 10 pm.

 

NYE Yoga at Laughing Lotus
Namaste your way into 2019 with a clear head and a calm heart with a two-hour yoga session at Laughing Lotus. It is the perfect time to reflect, re-energize and be thankful. “We will enter the new year in a state of bliss, so that 2019 will be your year of personal transformation, a step closer towards finding inner-peace, and of realizing your highest self to make your dreams come true!
