Food Network & Cooking Channel New York City Wine & Food Fair

This four-day festival is considered New York City's largest food and wine festival and shows off the talents and products of numerous culinary stars. This year, the festival will be nine years old and will once again educate the palates of its attendees while also providing entertainment. Festival attendees will be able to taste wine from over 100 wineries and have access to over 500 chefs and Food Network personalities. The festival starts off on Thursday, October 13 with Barilla's Italian Table hosted by Giada de Laurentiis and ends on the 16th with Lucky Chopsticks an Asian Market Night hosted by Andrew Zimmern.  Barilla's Italian Table will be held at Pier 92 at 52nd Street and West Side Highway and Lucky Chopsticks will held at Metropolitan West at 635 West 46th Street. General admission is $725, which allows you access to all of the events.

 

 Summer Martini Bar at the Met Roof Garden Café

This informal outdoor setting offers stunning views of Central Park and the spectacular Manhattan skyline. It is opened each summer by the Metropolitan Museum of Art and serves sandwiches and desserts along with beverages from 10 AM to 4:30 PM Sunday to Thursday and from 10 AM until 8 PM Friday to Saturday. Note that the Roof Garden Café closes for the year after October 31. The Met is located at 1000 Fifth Avenue.

 

Nature Bird Walk with Brad Klein: Autumn Bird Migration, Part 2

This event takes place at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden where naturalist Brad Klein will help amateur ornithologists with the difficult task of identifying migratory birds as they pass through NYC. The nature walk is free with Garden admission. You can meet Brad Klein at the Steinberg Visitor Center at 11 AM on October 16th. The Brooklyn Botanic Garden is located at 990 Washington Avenue. Admission to the Garden is  $12 for adults.

 

Artisanal Sweet Treats Bazaar

The bazaar features the best of fall desserts such as pumpkin pies and along with macaroons, cupcakes and chocolates.  Remember that there will also be other vendors at the NYC Grand Bazaar's weekly market. Those vendors will be selling everything from vintage collectibles to various different types of artisanal foods. The Artisanal Sweet Treats Bazaar will be held at 100 West 77th Street and runs from 10 AM to 5:30 PM on October 23. Admission is free.


The New York Television Festival

This festival allows attendees to see debuts of the hottest new TV shows and to have conversations with the artists who create them. Each year this festival brings in leaders in the television industry and fans of TV for its slate of events. This year those events include pilot competition screenings and a virtual reality storytelling conference. The festival will be held at the Helen Mills Event Space and Theater and runs from October 24 to the October 29. The theater is located at 137 W 26th St and tickets are $5 per event.
