Pilates is being turned on its head, or in this case, its chair in New York City by Chaise Fitness. Lauren Piskin, who you may have recognize from her popular Phyicalmind Pilates studio, and her daughter Rachel, join forces to create a new and unique Pilates experience with their Reinvention Method.
Chaise Fitness has 4 locations, its private studio on the Upper East Side, a studio in FiDi, another at 92nd Street and Park, as well as one in the Flatiron District which is the closest location to StuyTown. The Flatiron location is at 40 East 23rd Street on the third floor.
Lauren Piskin, a former medal winning competitive figure skater and coach, became one of the very first certified Pilates instructors by the Physicalmind Institute. After putting up her skates, she continued on by designing fitness programs and was featured in multiple media outlets such as Fitness RX, FOX News, CBS, and NBC, among many others.
Rachel Piskin is a former dancer from the New York City Ballet with a BA in costume design and a Pilates certification from the Physicalmind Institute. She has showcased the Reinvention Method in Shape Magazine, ABC News, The Today Show, and Oxygen.
This new method combines Lauren's and Rachel's backgrounds of Pilates, ballet, and aerobics with their unique Reinvention Chair, which resembles to a small chaise lounger, and an overhead bungee system. However, class participants do anything but lounge around. Most classes use a combination of the chair and bungees to make the most of your workout.
There are currently ten different classes offered in a variety of skill levels, from the novice to the expert, including one that doesn't involve the chaise at all if you need to build up your core a bit before tackling the chair. New clients can purchase three classes for $33 or an intro pack of six classes for $150. Individual classes are $39 each, and current customers can purchase packages from five classes to thirty, with the lowest cost per classes with the thirty class package. Membership can also be purchased for $298 a month.. Private sessions are also offered, starting at $90 for the intro and up from there. ChaiseFitness also offers Duet and Triplet sessions with comparable pricing. All packages are transferrable between locations. They also have just launched a four-part video series that can be purchased to stream to your preferred media device.
