One of the best perks of being a resident of StuyTown in the winter months is exclusive access to “The Ice at StuyTown,” a full-size ice rink located at Playground 10, on the north side of the Stuyvesant Town Oval. It’s like having access to the rink at Rockefeller Center, Central Park, or Bryant Park, but without the crowds and lines.
StuyTown’s seasonal rink – built in a space that operates as an astroturf playground in non-winter months -- opened in November. The rink is open 7 days a week, plus complimentary admission on Tuesdays between 4-8pm. Entry and skate rentals are open to StuyTown residents and their guests. The rink is not open to the public.
For residents that can’t get enough skating, Season Passes are available for $190 including admission and $230 including admission and skate rental. The pass pays for itself after just a handful of visits. Sign up for a basic skills skate school held during the week and learn everything you need to put on a show next winter. (See the full schedule.)
Hockey fans will be happy to hear that The Ice is offering adult hockey pick-up games every week. The rink also offers youth hockey clinics three days a week, and, for hockey-obsessed young residents, all-access youth hockey passes are available. These passes provide entry to unlimited youth hockey clinics and free admission throughout the season, a dream for any aspiring NHL’er.
Another perk for StuyTown residents: access to The Ice at StuyTown as a venue for birthday parties and group outings, with space for groups anywhere from 10 to 100. The birthday party package includes admission and skate rental. Please inquire at the ice rink about options for full catering and cake. Click here to book your party or for more details.
