With the hustle and bustle of the city seemingly ever-present, it can be nice to get away from it all and enjoy some greenery. Whether you are looking for a pocket park, or something a bit more extravagant, there is a bounty of parks in and around StuyTown East Village Apartments.
One of the advantages to living along the East River is the refreshing and lovingly-tended Stuyvesant Cove Park. Take a stroll along the river and enjoy the wildflowers, the fishermen (and women), and the winding pathway. Frequent events include a summer concert series and volunteer Saturdays where you can lend your green thumb to conserving and curating this lovely park.
We would be remiss if we didn’t mention our own sprawling Oval Lawn. Surrounded by flower beds and tree-lined walkways, The Oval truly is the crown jewel of our community. The bubbling fountain, cheerful birdsong, and rustling leaves will give you a much-needed respite from the chaos of city living. Stop by for the weekly farmer’s market, our year-round events, or just enjoy a walk in the sunshine.
This infamous park is just as well-known for its people-watching opportunities as it is for its greenery. With two playgrounds, a few sports courts, and a convenient dog run, there’s a little something for everyone.
Equal parts shopping district, park, and dining hotspot, Union Square is the central hub for Chelsea, Gramercy and the East Village. Surrounded by fantastic retail, delicious dining, and awesome music venues, Union Square’s lawn, benches, and trees may be crowded with the other denizens of the area, but with good reason. With a dog run, pop-up chess tournaments, and a weekly farmer’s market, there is always something to see at Union Square.
This pocket park is bisected by 2nd Avenue, creating one area for sitting and strolling, and a second largely devoted to an expanded and incredible dog run. With flowerbeds drenched in color and a peaceful fountain, it is a wonderful retreat for a lunchbreak or an afternoon walk.
For those who want to engage even more with their local parks, the Dias y Flores Community Garden is the perfect opportunity. This tiny pocket park provides opportunities to join in and sign up for a plot. This is truly a garden for gardeners, and a chance to test out your green thumb.
