Fall is coming, which means fall events! Check out these 5 fall events happening in the city that can’t be missed.
1. Admire the Morningside Lights
When: September 20
Where: Begins at Morningside Park and ends at Columbia University campus
Each fall, Morningside Park comes alive with a glowing lantern procession created by the community. This year’s event, “TIMEFRAME 1965”, looks back sixty years to a pivotal era of cultural change, with lanterns inspired by the icons, ideas, and movements that shaped a new generation of artists and thinkers. On September 20th, just after dusk, more than 50 handmade lanterns will illuminate the night, creating a luminous time capsule of one transformative year.
2. The Food Network Food And Wine Festival
When: October 15 - 19
Where: Invesco QQQ Campus at Brooklyn Army Terminal
The Food Network Food and Wine Festival is back October 15 - 19! Get ready for 80+ unforgettable events with over 400 chefs, mixologists, and wine & spirits creators. 3. Village Halloween Parade
When: October 31st at 7pm
Where: Starts at Canal St. And 6th Ave
Spooky season is coming and, with that, so are NYC’s Halloween traditions. Perhaps the most famous of all is the annual Village Halloween Parade, an iconic celebration that is guaranteed to be a good time. Open to anyone in costume, the parade expects over 50,000 participants and nearly 2 million spectators, with highlights including giant puppets, live bands, and elaborate costumes. This year’s theme, “Potluck,” celebrates gathering, abundance, and creativity, encouraging participants to bring their own imaginative spin to the idea of sharing.
4. The New York Botanical Garden’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas”
When: September 25 – November 30
Where: The NYBG
Celebrate spooky season the right way by visiting the NYBG’s 2nd annual light trail inspired by Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” Made of over 8,300 square feet of light installations, this exhibition will feature 3D printed sculptures of iconic characters and interactive video projections. 5. New York Comedy Festival
When: November 7 - 16
Where: Various Venues
Everybody loves to laugh, and there’s no place for comedy like New York City. Running from November 7th to 16th, the New York Comedy Festival is back and ready to have you in stitches. The lineup features household comedy names like Chris Fleming, Hannah Berner, Louis C.K., as well as up-and-coming performers. Venues will include Madison Square Garden, Town Hall, and the Beacon Theatre. Get tickets before they’re all gone!
