A new Barnes & Noble is slated to join the East Village retail scene, bringing a major bookstore back to the neighborhood -- and within easy reach for StuyTown residents. 

According to EV Grieve, the national bookseller is planning to open a location at 181 Avenue A, between East 11th and 12th Streets, in an approximately 11,000-square-foot space at the base of the Steiner East Village complex.  

The store is currently expected to open as early as November 2026, based on a listing spotted on Barnes & Noble’s website.  

For residents of StuyTown, the location is a short walk away, offering a convenient new option for books, gifts, and browsing close to home.
