Where to Grab a Drink Around StuyTown

StuyTown's apartments in NYC are just a short walk away from a plethora of trendy Manhattan bars, which makes it the best of both worlds. There is nightlife at your doorstep and a peaceful urban oasis you can retreat to afterward. Whether you’re looking for a quiet wine bar, a place to meet up with your friends, or a place to get a beer, the choices are endless.

New York's East Village offers some of the most unique bars, so to simplify things, we’ve picked a few establishments to highlight:

  • Please Don’t Tell (temporarily closed) at 113 Saint Marks Place is about as close to experiencing a real speakeasy as you can get. You enter through a vintage phone booth within Crif Dogs, a hot dog shop known for their deep-fried Jersey-style franks. Once inside, you can enjoy some high-quality mixed drinks and a hot dog or two. Mixologist Kim Meehan perfects classic cocktails and serves original creations such as an Old Fashion made from bacon-infused bourbon and maple syrup.
  • The Garret is a posh and upscale cocktail bar serving seasonal and bottled cocktails as well as wines and beer. The bar has tons of space. There’s a large bar area, booths, and a back area furnished with sofas. It’s a great place to hang out at on the weekend.
  • Keybar is a watering hole best known for its fireplace and two-for-one well drinks. The bar is a great spot if you’re looking for a fun atmosphere and music.
  • Fat Buddha Bar (temporarily closed) is the neighborhood spot for drinks, Asian fusion food, and music. It is a destination for after work, dinner and late night. Fat Buddha Bar is best known for their rice bowl dishes, buns and wings. The lounge also features DJ spinning on most nights.
  • Holiday Cocktail Lounge was once a classic dive frequented by Allen Ginsberg, Joey Ramone and Frank Sinatra that now has a wholly redone space. The cocktail menu includes a selection of inexpensive beer and shot combos and cocktails that are served at a horseshoe-shaped bar.
  • Death and Company is a high-end speakeasy that is responsible for launching the careers of many of NYC’s most prominent bartenders. The spot is known for its signature cocktails, including an Old Fashioned reinvented with reposado tequila, mezcal, and flaming orange.
  • McSorley’s Old Ale House is a traditional Irish bar with Irish bartenders and sawdust on the floor. It is the oldest “Irish Tavern” in NYC that has remained authentic. It only provides two ale choices to its customers: McSorley’s Dark Ale and McSorley’s light ale.
  • Maiden Lane is a wine bar where you drink wine by the glass or by the bottle and then munch light bites such as smoked fish, Spanish salami, and farmer’s cheese. Maiden Lane offers a uniquely curated selection of spirits, wine, and beer that all complement the food. The bar boasts a nautical theme with a navy chalkboard menu and pine plank ceiling support.
  • Good Night Sonny is a popular East Village hangout that offers cocktails, a raw bar and sandwiches. This homey spot sports exposed brick decorated with a large assortment of family photos. From 5-7pm every day, they offer special prices on beers, wine, and cocktails. The cocktails are seasonal yet affordable, and they also have nightly deals.
  • The Wayland is a cutting-edge live-music cocktail bar and neighborhood hot spot. Apple-spice bitters, ginger and kale juice cocktails, and Fernet Branca and Cola are all on tap. The bar connects to a kitchen that specializes in small plates like fried oysters, pulled chicken, and pork BLT’s.

After a night out on the town, what better way to unwind than coming home to the quiet serenity of StuyTown.
